Food Technology Teacher

Location: Lightcliffe School, Halifax
Job Type: Full-Time
Start Date: September 2026

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Food Technology Teacher to join the supportive and forward-thinking team at Lightcliffe School in Halifax. This is a full-time position ideal for a teacher who is enthusiastic about inspiring students through practical learning, nutrition education, creativity, and innovation within the Food Technology curriculum.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping students develop confidence, independence, and essential culinary skills in a safe and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver high-quality Food Technology lessons that engage and challenge students.
Teach across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (KS5 experience desirable but not essential).
Support students in developing practical cooking skills, nutritional knowledge, and food preparation techniques.
Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing constructive feedback.
Maintain a safe, hygienic, and organised kitchen/classroom environment in line with health and safety regulations.
Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment opportunities within the department.

The Ideal Candidate

Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
Has experience teaching Food Technology in a secondary school setting.
Demonstrates strong subject knowledge in food preparation, nutrition, and health and safety practices.
Is passionate about practical learning and student achievement.
Has strong classroom management and communication skills.
Works well as part of a collaborative team.
