Working Hours: Monday to Friday (8:00am - 4:00pm)
Salary: £40,000 + bonus

Job Scope

The Product Development Project Leader is responsible for leading and coordinating assay development projects within a regulated diagnostics environment. This role combines technical leadership with project oversight, ensuring successful delivery of product development activities from concept through to completion while maintaining quality and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate laboratory research for assay development projects
Assess and verify the diagnostic performance of immunoassays
Act as a technical lead and key interface with internal teams and external partners
Contribute to cross-functional product development teams
Support and participate in technical investigations and problem-solving activities
Manage and mentor a small team of Product Development Scientists (2-3 direct reports)
Monitor project progress, timelines, and performance alongside project management teams
Assist with budgeting and forecasting for product development activities
Ensure compliance with SOPs, governance procedures, and quality standards
Support preparation of regulatory submission documentation and respond to regulatory queries
Collaborate across global teams as required by project demands
Complete all required documentation for product design and development phases
Escalate risks or issues relating to timelines, budget, or delivery when necessary
Maintain a flexible approach to meet business and project needs

Experience, Knowledge & Skills

Degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent industry experience
At least 2 years' experience in immunodiagnostic product development or design change
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements for IVD products
Proven ability to lead or supervise a team
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage changing priorities and work in a dynamic environment
