Lead Planner – HGV Tanker Operations 🚨

Top Tier Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Lead Planner on behalf of our client, the UK’s largest independent specialist drainage contractor.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing and well-established business with a nationwide network, employing over 2,100 people and delivering specialist drainage and tankering services across the UK.
The Role:
You will be responsible for leading and coordinating a team of HGV Tanker Drivers across the region, ensuring all planned and reactive work is completed efficiently and in line with contract requirements.
This role involves managing tanker operations for the movement of non-hazardous liquids from customer sites to disposal facilities, while acting as a key point of contact for clients, drivers, supervisors, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and issue daily night plans and next-day schedules
• Allocate drivers and resources to ensure all jobs are covered
• Coordinate with drivers and support route planning queries
• Monitor Samsara telematics systems and driver performance
• Act as the main communication point between clients and operational teams
• Lead shift handovers and support planning staff
• Schedule vehicle maintenance and PMI requirements
• Respond to urgent pollution-related jobs and escalations
• Carry out daily commercial reviews of completed work
• Manage new job requests using Big Change / Ortec systems
• Use Excel to monitor locations, availability, and reporting
What We’re Looking For:
• Previous experience within a planning or logistics role
• Strong organisational and multitasking skills
• Good communication and relationship-building ability
• Experience using Microsoft 365
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
