Circular Economy & Waste Sector SMEs - Multiple Contract Opportunities
We are seeking a number of experienced Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to support high-profile environmental and circular economy programmes across waste, recycling, packaging, compliance and resource recovery policy delivery

These are specialist advisory roles where successful candidates will bring deep operational or technical expertise from industry. In-house policy expertise will be provided, so candidates do not need to be career policy professionals - however, they must be recognised experts within their field.

Location: Predomintely remote - Adhocs visits to London, York, Bristol or Newcastle

Areas of Expertise Required:
We are interested in professionals with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

Packaging Recovery Notes (PRN/PERN)
Plastics reduction and packaging regulation
Waste crime enforcement and compliance
Landfill operations, closure and methane capture
Tyre recycling and circularity
Vehicle recycling / End of Life Vehicles (ELV)
Batteries regulation, reuse and recycling
Residual waste infrastructure and resource recoveryWhat You'll Bring:

Strong technical, operational or commercial expertise in your specialist area
Experience working with regulators, local authorities, producers, recyclers or compliance schemes
Ability to engage credibly with stakeholders across industry and government
Strategic thinking and evidence-based problem solving
Experience contributing to policy implementation, operational delivery, compliance or regulatory reformPotential Skillset Crossover:
We welcome candidates whose experience spans multiple sectors. Strong crossover exists between:

Batteries, ELV and tyres through producer responsibility, recycling systems and resource recovery
PRN/PERN, plastics and packaging regulation through compliance frameworks and circular economy policy
Waste crime, landfill and residual waste infrastructure through enforcement, permitting and operational compliance
Recycling operations and environmental compliance across all sectorsCandidates with broader circular economy, waste management, producer responsibility or environmental compliance experience are encouraged to apply where they can demonstrate transferable expertise.

These opportunities support nationally significant programmes focused on sustainability, circular economy growth and environmental protection
