Probation Officer – Full Time
Location: HMP Forest Bank & HMP Hindley
Contract: Full Time
Rate: £28.63 ltd per hour (umbrella rate) or equivalent of £21.75 PAYE per hour
We are seeking a motivated and committed Probation Officer to work across both HMP Forest Bank and HMP Hindley.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner to work within a custodial environment, supporting offender management and public protection while contributing to rehabilitation and reducing reoffending.
Key Responsibilities
Managing a caseload of offenders within the prison setting
Completing high-quality OASys assessments and sentence planning documentation
Undertaking public protection checks and risk management activity
Liaising effectively with prison staff, external agencies, and community offender managers
Contributing to Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) where required
Supporting offenders to address offending behaviour and prepare for releaseEssential Requirements
Qualified Probation Officer or equivalent recognised qualification
Experience of offender management within custodial or community settings
Knowledge and experience of OASys and public protection procedures
Strong written communication and risk assessment skills
Ability to manage a demanding caseload effectively
