Head of Finance
Location: Loughborough
Salary: £60,(Apply online only)-£70,(Apply online only) DOE
Hours: 40 hours per week
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Accounts & Payroll to join a well‑established care provider with over 35 years of service excellence. This is a key leadership role overseeing the day‑to‑day financial operations of a large, multi‑site organisation.
You will lead the finance function, ensure strong financial controls, and provide accurate reporting to support strategic decision‑making across the Group. This is a hands‑on, office‑based role with occasional travel to services.
The Role
Lead and manage all daily finance operations
Produce monthly management accounts with clear commentary
Oversee sales ledger, purchase ledger, payroll input, banking, and reconciliations
Manage cashflow, credit control, and debt recovery
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (HMRC, pensions, reporting)
Support budgeting and financial performance monitoring
Lead year‑end processes and liaise with external auditors
Manage and develop the finance team
Work closely with operational managers to improve financial understanding and cost control
What You'll Need
Qualified or part‑qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent experience)
Strong experience in a senior accounts or finance management role
Solid knowledge of management accounts, payroll, and financial reporting
Experience managing multi‑site finance operations
Strong systems knowledge (Sage 200 & Sage 50 Payroll desirable)
Excellent Excel and communication skills
Experience leading and developing finance staff
Desirable:
Experience in health or social care
Understanding of Local Authority or NHS funding
Experience improving finance systems and processes
