Job Overview
Our client, a well-established construction business based near Cambridge, is looking to recruit a Permanent Estimator to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong estimating background in the construction sector—and ideally cladding / roofing experience—to support bids and help shape accurate, competitive submissions.
As an Estimator, you will be responsible for producing detailed and timely estimates for a variety of construction projects. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure information is accurate, costs are well-understood, and submissions are delivered on time.
Duties
* Preparing cost estimates, pricing schedules, and bill of quantities (where required)
* Reviewing tender documents, drawings, specifications, and scope of works
* Understanding construction methodologies and accurately pricing materials, labour, plant, and subcontract packages
* Using your experience to ensure clear and consistent pricing assumptions
* Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations
* Supporting the bid process from initial enquiry through to submission
* Contributing to improving estimating processes and commercial accuracy
Qualifications
* Proven experience as an Estimator within construction (essential)
* Ideally cladding experience (e.g., pricing façade/cladding packages, understanding systems and installation considerations)
* Strong ability to read and interpret construction information (drawings/specifications)
* Confidence in producing accurate, competitive estimates within tight deadlines
* Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others across the business
