We’re looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Design Department. You’ll play a key role in creating high-quality, innovative, and commercially competitive products for the material handling industry. This role combines hands-on design work with collaborative responsibilities, supporting colleagues, mentoring junior engineers, and driving continuous improvement across our design processes.
What you’ll do:
• Design detailed 3D parts and assemblies in SolidWorks and produce full manufacturing drawing packs, including BOMs, laser profiles, and work orders.
• Develop and maintain design standards, processes, and best practices.
• Review drawings, participate in design reviews, and support data quality across the team.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote knowledge sharing.
• Work closely with Project Engineers to ensure projects meet design requirements, timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Capture and incorporate design changes from manufacturing, installation, or commissioning.
• Liaise with customers and suppliers for design reviews, approvals, and sourcing.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and improvements in product designs and manufacturing processes.
• Support cross-functional teams with technical expertise.
What we’re looking for:
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Proven design engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, including transferring bespoke designs into production.
• Minimum 4 years hands-on SolidWorks 3D experience (essential).
• Experience with SolidWorks PDM and sheet metal/fabrication design is highly desirable.
• Exposure to food processing equipment is advantageous.
• AutoCAD 2D proficiency is a plus
