£35k - £42k

We’re supporting an innovative organisation at the forefront of biotechnology and sustainable food innovation as they expand their scale-up and pilot manufacturing capabilities. They are currently looking for Scale-Up and Bioprocess Technicians with experience in pilot plant environments to help translate emerging bioprocesses from development into scalable production.

This is an opportunity to work closely with multidisciplinary teams to optimise processes, support pilot-scale operations, and help bring next-generation food and biotechnology solutions closer to commercial reality.

About the Role

These positions sit within the scale-up and pilot operations team, focusing on the transition of newly developed processes into reliable manufacturing workflows.

You’ll work with pilot-scale systems, supporting scale-up activities, executing production runs, and collaborating with R&D and operations teams to ensure robust, well-documented processes.

This role is well suited to technicians who enjoy hands-on pilot plant work, problem solving, and contributing to the scale-up of innovative bioprocess technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Work within pilot-scale operations, translating process development work into manufacturing-ready workflows (50L–600L scale)

Support and actively participate in scale-up and pilot production activities

Execute production workflows and maintain accurate batch documentation

Assist with technology transfer from laboratory development into manufacturing environments

Analyse operational data, prepare reports, and share insights with the wider team

Collaborate with colleagues across R&D, Quality, and Operations to support process improvement

Skills and Experience

Degree or technical qualification in Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field

Approximately 3+ years’ industry experience operating stainless-steel pilot-scale reactors or bioprocess systems

Familiarity with bioreactor control systems, PID loops, and process modes such as batch, fed-batch, or perfusion

Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain high-quality batch records and documentation

Good communication and problem-solving skills in collaborative environments

Familiarity with GMP or regulated manufacturing environments is advantageous

Why Join?

Work within a collaborative and inclusive environment focused on innovation and sustainability

Opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge biotechnology and food production technologies

A supportive team culture with ongoing learning and career development opportunities
