Learning Support Assistant (Secondary SEN Support) – Sheffield
Location: Sheffield
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: September 2026
Salary: £110–£120 per day (dependent on experience)
PK Education are working with a mainstream secondary school in Sheffield who are looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to support students with Special Educational Needs from September 2026.
This is a rewarding role within a supportive school environment, working closely with students who require additional help accessing learning and managing the school day successfully.
You’ll support students across KS3 and KS4 with a range of needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and moderate learning difficulties. Support may be delivered on a 1:1 basis, within small groups, or alongside classroom teachers in mainstream lessons.
The school has a strong inclusion team and a well-established SEN department, with clear support structures and experienced staff already in place.
The Role
Supporting students with SEN across mainstream secondary classrooms
Providing 1:1 and small group intervention support
Helping students remain engaged and focused during lessons
Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff
What We’re Looking For
Experience working with young people or SEN is desirable
Calm, patient, and resilient approach
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to support students while maintaining clear boundaries
A genuine interest in supporting young people within education
This role would suit candidates from education, care, coaching, youth work, or mentoring backgrounds looking to build long-term experience within a secondary school setting.
