We are currently seeking experienced Civils Quantity Surveyors with strong NEC knowledge to join major HS2 schemes across the Greater Birmingham area.
This opportunity is ideally suited to individuals who have worked with Tier One contractors and have proven experience managing subcontractor accounts on large-scale infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
Support the commercial management of the project, ensuring all contractual notices and communications are issued accurately, on time, and in compliance with contract requirements
Prepare and assess applications for payment, valuations, and cost/value reconciliations
Monitor project costs and contribute to forecasting activities, including monthly reporting on value, cost, cash flow, profit/loss, and budgets
Manage and agree applications for payment, and prepare or assess payment certificates
Assist in risk and value management processes, identifying and analysing commercial risks and implementing mitigation strategies
Oversee contract administration, including the use of relevant contractual forms, budgetary controls, and systems
Procure and manage supply chain packages, including enquiries, negotiations, administration, and final account close-out
Ensure all contractual documentation and notifications are maintained in line with project requirements and company procedures
Maintain regular communication with site teams, subcontractors, and client representatives
Manage project records, including site documentation, meeting packs, minutes, and general record-keeping
Provide commercial and contractual guidance to operational teams when required
Maintain a strong understanding of current forms of construction contracts
Ensure compliance with environmental, sustainability, and statutory requirements in line with client and JV partner expectations
Requirements
Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent), with progression towards RICS or CICES membership
Demonstrable experience operating as a standalone Quantity Surveyor for a Tier One or principal contractor
Strong background on civil engineering projects under NEC contracts
Proven capability in cost management, reporting, valuations, and subcontractor account management
Experience in contract administration and change control
Competent in producing commercial reports, including cost/value reconciliations and forecasting
Proficient with CEMAR, Excel, and Power BI
Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively across project teams
Willingness to work a minimum of 3 days per week in the office
