Computer Science Teacher – Permanent Position
Blessed Hugh Faringdon Catholic School, Reading
Start Date: September 2026

Blessed Hugh Faringdon Catholic School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, innovative and inspirational Computer Science Teacher to join our successful department from September 2026 on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will be passionate about Computer Science and committed to delivering engaging and challenging lessons that inspire students of all abilities. They will have strong subject knowledge and the ability to develop students’ confidence in programming, computational thinking and digital literacy within a positive and inclusive learning environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and ambitious Catholic secondary school with a strong sense of community and high expectations for student achievement and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

* Plan and deliver high-quality Computer Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4

* Teach programming, computational thinking and digital skills effectively

* Monitor, assess and track student progress to ensure strong outcomes

* Create a stimulating and supportive classroom environment

* Contribute to curriculum development within the department

* Support extracurricular activities including coding clubs and enrichment opportunities

* Support the Catholic ethos and wider life of the school

* Participate fully in departmental meetings, parents’ evenings and school events

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will:

* Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

* Have experience teaching Computer Science in a secondary school setting

* Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and classroom management skills

* Be committed to raising attainment and student progress

* Have the ability to inspire students in technology and computing

* Support and uphold the Catholic values and ethos of the school

* Be an effective team player with a positive and proactive attitude
