We are currently recruiting on behalf of the University of Cambridge for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join their First Response team within the Estates Division.
This is an excellent opportunity to work in one of the world’s most prestigious university environments, helping to maintain critical electrical building services that support teaching, research, and day-to-day campus operations.
The Role
Working under the supervision of the Electrical Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring that electrical building services across the estate are safe, compliant, and maintained to the highest standard.
You will respond to maintenance issues and emergencies, helping to ensure maximum uptime of facilities while minimising disruption to the University’s academic and research activities.
The role is part of a multi-disciplinary First Response team, made up of in-house engineers and specialist contractors. You will sometimes work independently and at other times as a senior member of the team, applying your experience across a variety of electrical systems and occasionally mechanical services.
Key Responsibilities

Maintain and repair electrical building services to a high operational standard
*
Respond quickly and effectively to electrical faults and emergency situations
*
Ensure all work complies with current legislation, safety standards and industry best practice
*
Work collaboratively with engineers, contractors and facilities teams
*
Support the delivery of reliable, high-quality facilities across the University estate
Salary & Benefits
*
Salary up to £39,906 per year
*
Additional 2.5% pay supplement
*
Permanent, full-time role
