Role: Lead Electrical Engineer / Architect
Location: Bristol (2–3 days on-site)
Salary: Up to £65,000 + bonus + benefits
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer / Architect to define and develop the electrical architecture for complex defence system equipment. You will work across the full product lifecycle, from early-stage projects to in-service systems, ensuring integration, safety, and performance within harsh operating environments.
This role offers the opportunity to influence the technical design of advanced defence products for domestic and export customers, working closely with stakeholders, project teams, and end users.
Key Responsibilities
*
The Lead Electrical Engineer will develop and define electrical architecture and requirements for weapon system equipment
*
Break down high-level requirements into sub-system specifications
*
Support design and integration of electrical power and control equipment
*
Produce technical, safety, and certification documentation, including UKCA/CE declarations
*
Ensure compliance with standards for low/extra-low voltage, grounding, bonding, and mobile/transportable systems
*
Participate in testing, trials, and functional integration
*
Provide guidance and expertise for electrical design across multiple projects
Experience & Skills Required
*
Practical experience with electrical installations, power distribution, and machinery design
*
Knowledge of uninterruptable power systems, EMC, and harsh environment constraints
*
Hands-on testing, fault-finding, and trials experience
*
Strong communication and leadership skills to work with internal teams and customers
*
Familiarity with certification, safety, and regulatory standards
