We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supportive Primary School team, working with pupils and young people with Autism and Learning Disabilities. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about inclusive education and committed to helping children feel safe, supported, and confident in their learning. You will play a vital role in supporting pupils both academically and emotionally, helping them to develop independence, communication skills, and positive relationships within a nurturing and structured school environment.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide tailored support to pupils with Autism and Learning Disabilities, both 1:1 and in small groups
Support learning activities under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO
Promote engagement, independence, and positive behaviour
Support pupils with social communication and emotional regulation
Assist with personal care where required
Create a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience working with children or young people with SEN (desirable but not essential)
Has a patient, calm, and empathetic approach
Communicates effectively with pupils, staff, and parents
Works well as part of a team and follows school policies
Is committed to safeguarding and inclusive practice
Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
