Hays Education are working in partnership with a high-performing secondary school in North London to recruit an experienced and driven Head of Business & Economics. This is an excellent opportunity to lead a successful department within a school that values academic achievement, innovation, and progression to higher education and employment pathways.

Your new role
As Head of Business & Economics, you will lead the delivery of Business Studies and Economics across Key Stages 4 and 5, shaping a curriculum that is engaging, relevant, and aligned with real-world applications.Key responsibilities include:

Leading and managing the Business & Economics department, including line management and staff development
Driving high standards of teaching, learning, and student achievement at GCSE and A-Level
Designing and delivering a forward-thinking curriculum that reflects current economic and business contexts
Monitoring progress, analysing data, and implementing effective interventions
Promoting enrichment opportunities, including enterprise initiatives, competitions, and external partnerships
Contributing to wider school leadership and continuous improvement priorities

What you'll need to succeed

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Strong experience teaching Business Studies and/or Economics at KS4 and KS5
Proven leadership experience or readiness to step into a Head of Department role
Excellent subject knowledge and passion for developing students' understanding of business and economic principles
Ability to inspire students and staff, driving a culture of high expectations
