About

An established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is currently looking to appoint a Senior Fire Engineer to join their growing Fire Engineering team in the Manchester office.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly respected consultancy known for delivering complex, design-led projects across the UK and internationally. The business has built a strong reputation within the built environment sector and works across a wide range of high-profile developments including commercial, residential, aviation, healthcare, transport, stadia and major mixed-use schemes.

The Fire Engineering team is involved in both multidisciplinary collaboration and standalone specialist commissions, giving engineers exposure to a genuinely diverse workload. Current and previous projects include large-scale airport terminals, high-rise residential developments, major regeneration schemes, healthcare facilities and international infrastructure projects.

The consultancy has made significant investment into research, innovation and technical excellence, with dedicated internal groups focused on areas such as CFD modelling, structural fire engineering, emerging fire risks and sustainable construction methods. The team has also been heavily involved in large-scale fire testing and advanced timber construction research projects.

Why consider this opportunity?

• Work on some of the UK’s most technically challenging and high-profile developments
• Strong emphasis on technical development, mentoring and chartership support
• Extensive internal and external training programmes, innovation days and technical workshops
• Flexible working environment including a 9-day fortnight arrangement
• Collaborative and supportive team culture with genuine long-term progression opportunities
• Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package including private healthcare, enhanced annual leave and additional lifestyle benefits

The role will involve:

• Delivering fire safety strategies and engineering solutions across a broad range of projects
• Working closely with architects, developers, contractors and wider design teams
• Attending client, design and site meetings
• Carrying out and supporting fire engineering analysis using industry-standard modelling software
• Supporting multidisciplinary project delivery from concept through to completion

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience working within a Fire Engineering consultancy environment
• A degree in Fire Engineering or a related discipline such as Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Building Services, Architecture or similar
• Knowledge of UK fire regulations and guidance
• Experience or exposure to fire modelling / evacuation modelling software
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment

This opportunity could suit someone looking to join a consultancy that places genuine emphasis on technical quality, project variety, staff development and long-term career progression.
