ALink Recruitment are working with an engineering consultancy that are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the detailed design, analysis, and technical verification of tunnel fire main systems across multiple major rail infrastructure assets. The role will be part-time (likely 2-3 days/week), starting from around July time.
The role will involve carrying out:
* Transient fluid pressure (surge / water hammer) analysis to verify hydraulic performance and transient pressure behaviour of tunnel fire main systems
* Pipe stress analysis to assess piping system behaviour under sustained, thermal and transient loading conditions and determine required pipe support, restraint and anchor arrangements
The successful candidate will develop and check analytical models for complex long-distance tunnel fire main systems and provide engineering outputs to support mechanical design integration, structural coordination, and formal design assurance activities.
The analysis will be undertaken using:
* BosFluids for transient fluid pressure analysis
* CAESAR II for pipe stress analysis and support design verification
