A caring and inclusive specialist SEND school in Knowsley is looking to recruit a committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a full-time position with the opportunity to secure a permanent role for the right candidate.
This is a rewarding opportunity to have a meaningful impact on the lives of pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will provide consistent support, build strong, positive relationships, and help pupils to engage more confidently in their learning
The Role
• Support pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
• Help to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours using a calm and consistent approach
• Support pupils in accessing a personalised curriculum tailored to their individual needs
The Ideal Candidate
• Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs or within a SEND setting
• Is confident in managing challenging behaviour in a patient and proactive manner
• Demonstrates resilience, empathy, and a strong commitment to supporting vulnerable pupils
Requirements
• References covering the last 5 years
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
