Location: Hounslow

About the Role

We’re looking for a motivated and practical person to join our team as a Network Steward. You’ll play an important part in keeping Hounslow’s streets, footpaths, and public spaces safe, clean, and well-maintained.

This is a great opportunity for someone starting their career — you’ll gain hands-on experience, receive training, and learn how highways and local environments are managed day-to-day.

You’ll work both outdoors and in the office, inspecting streets, spotting issues, and helping to make improvements that really make a difference to local communities.

What You’ll Be Doing

*

Carry out regular checks of roads, pavements, cycle routes and public spaces.

*

Spot and record problems such as potholes, litter, graffiti or fly-tipping.

*

Help make sure repairs and clean-ups are done quickly and properly.

*

Learn how to carry out inspections under the New Roads and Street Works Act (1991).

*

Support enforcement under the Highways Act (1980) and Environmental Protection Act (1990).

*

Use mobile technology to record and update inspection data.

*

Work with residents, local groups, and businesses to resolve issues and keep areas looking good.

*

Support the team during winter and other seasonal operations.

*

Help improve the service by collecting data and suggesting better ways of working.

What We’re Looking For

*

A positive attitude and willingness to learn.

*

Interest in working outdoors and improving the local environment.

*

Good communication and people skills – you’ll talk to a range of people every day.

*

Attention to detail – you’ll be spotting issues and recording accurate data.

*

Basic IT skills and a willingness to learn new systems.

*

Ability to follow processes and work safely.

*

A team player who’s happy to get stuck in.

*

Experience or training in highways, construction, or environmental work.

Why Join Us

*

Full on-the-job training and career development.

*

Work outdoors and make a visible difference to your community.

*

Supportive team environment.

*

Opportunities to grow and progress within the company
