Senior Finance Assistant

Cherry Professional is working with a well-established, service-based business to recruit a Senior Finance Assistant into a growing finance function. This is a hands-on role supporting the Financial Controller with the day-to-day running of the accounts, with real scope to get involved in month-end and process improvement for a group of small businesses

Location: Leicester LE4 (On-site, no hybrid)
Type: Permanent, full-time
Salary: In the region of £32000 (depending on experience)
The role (key duties)

Day-to-day bookkeeping using Xero
Managing debtors and creditors
Bank and balance sheet reconciliations
Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts
Processing payroll in line with HMRC requirements (PAYE/NIC/pensions auto-enrolment)
Preparing and submitting VAT returns
Maintaining accurate records and supporting year-end
Liaising with external accountants and internal stakeholdersWhat we’re looking for

AAT qualified
Strong experience using Xero (or similar)
Solid understanding of transactional finance and general ledger processes (incl. journals, accruals, prepayments)
Strong Excel and reconciliation skills
Organised, detail-focused, and able to manage multiple priorities
Confident communicator who can work independentlyWhat’s on offer
