Job Role: Support Worker
Salary: £16-£18/Hour
Hours: 9am-4pm | Monday-Friday – Full time
Our day centre in Islington is looking for dedicated and compassionate Support Workers to join our team. We support adults with learning disabilities, autism, and a range of complex or challenging needs, and we are seeking individuals who can provide both practical assistance and meaningful emotional support. You will need to feel confident working independently, using your initiative, and building trusting, consistent relationships with each person you support.
Job role/responsibilities:
·Provide 1:1, person-centred support to adults attending the day centre, adapting your approach to meet everyone’s communication needs, sensory preferences, and support requirements.
·Create a warm, welcoming, and inclusive day-centre environment where service users feel safe, valued, and encouraged to participate.
·Support service users to take part in daily centre activities, such as music sessions, arts & crafts, cooking, sensory workshops, group games, and outdoor exercise.
·Encourage engagement and confidence-building, helping individuals explore new activities, develop social skills, and enjoy meaningful daily experiences.
·Monitor and report any changes in mood, behaviour, participation, or physical wellbeing to the team leader or senior staff.
·Raise safeguarding concerns or safety issues promptly in line with the day centre’s policies and procedures.
You Must have:
·At least 6 months experience working in the Health & Social care sector, within a day centre or similar setting.
·Must have experience working with one or more of the following client groups: Vulnerable Adults, Learning Disabilities, 1-1, Autism, Mental Health and Challenging Behaviour.
·Must Hold a valid DBS within the last 12 months - preferably registered online or be able to complete a new one.
·A confident and outgoing attitude towards working with vulnerable individuals
