Thames Water is undergoing significant business transformation spanning all areas of the organisation and as such the environment is fluid, challenging yet hugely rewarding.

Business Architecture is a newly set up area of expertise and forms a key part of the Transformation and Change Team.

The Business Process Specialist will be working in this new community of practice within the Thames Water “Project Management and Business Architecture” Job Family. The Head of Business Architecture is responsible for building the Business Architecture team, as well as defining and developing the Business Architecture community of practice.

Business Architecture includes a business's operating model (‘ways of working’ or processes, tools and applications, data and insight), and defines how the operating model delivers value to and interacts with customers, external stakeholders and regulators.

The Business Process Specialist will support the design and improvement of the Thames Water Business Architecture, using agreed and measurable business performance indicators.

This Business Process Specialist position gives the role holder the opportunity to help be part of a new community of practice and be a member of a team that will provide crucial input and support to any business change programme.

This role would not suit someone from a technical background and is more suited to someone from an operational background where they have been part of a team who has designed and built and worked in a Business Architecture framework.

In this role you wil be required to:

You will be part of the definition and improvement of the Thames Water Operating Model (business processes, roles and accountabilities, business systems and data and insight), prioritising operational excellence, cost efficiency and customer experience.

You will define key metrics to measure the quality and performance of the Operating Model and defining procedures to measure compliance and performance, and to take appropriate actions for improvement.

You will be a member of the Business Architecture Design Authority, designing and approving or rejecting any suggested change to any element of the Operating Model:

Defining business processes (down to level 4)

Defining data and insight capabilities

Defining the organisational functions and responsibilities needed to implement the operating modelYou will work with the HR and local management teams to define and embed organisational changes required to adapt to operating model changes.

You will be providing expertise to, and support and sign-off for major portfolio programmes, in the areas of:

Requirements, design and quality assurance for any change impacting the Thames Water Operating Model.

Ensuring business and operational readiness to adopt the changes implemented by said programmes.

Manage all other change related impacts to the business resulting from programme implementation.You will support the Lead Business Architect with the overall design of the Thames Water business architecture and operating model and contribute to the overall Thames Water Business Architecture and Operating Model.

You will contribute to the overall sign-off of any proposed business solution, impacting or with risk of impacting any element of the Thames Water operating model.

You will work with the business to document the customer experience and operational requirements, as well as the quality criteria associated with each phase of the programme including the end-to-end Service Model for each change.

You will work alongside HR to design the operational roles and responsibilities required to support the change, drive a high-performance delivery focused culture and ensures all changes have clear acceptance-into-service-criteria.

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

Your previous experience covering a few years would include you have expertise and industry knowledge of business and operating models within the utility industry within Telecoms, finance, banking or energy environment.

You will be able demonstrate expertise and experience regarding the specification, design and implementation of business improvement solutions.

You will be able to demonstrate your experience in business process design, and in business process improvement and understand how business improvement solutions may impact employees, customers, and other stakeholders.

Your qualifications may include:

ITIL Foundation and or Practitioner

Prince 2 Practitioner

APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ)

Six Sigma Green Belt (CSSGB)Whats in it for you?
