I am recruiting for a Data Scientist to join a company who specialises in providing excellent scientific, technical and legislative support for allied food and drink companies around the UK and Europe, many of which are blue chip companies. The role involves lead responsibility for provision of statistical analysis and advice to scientists and technologists in the Technology Directorate.

The RoleThe Data Scientist position will give you the opportunity to:* Develop and carry out research projects to apply modern data analysis methods, in order to solve food industry problems.* Support the analysis of image and spectroscopy data from the section's instruments which include Hyperspectral NIR, X-ray micro CT and DigiEye colour imaging system.* To assist the modelling and simulation team with their modelling processes in order to support food industry clients.

Your SkillsAs a Data Scientist our client is ideally looking for the following skills and experience:* A degree or equivalent in a relevant STEM subject.* High level understanding of relevant statistical methods.* To be proficient using common statistical software packages, such as Minitab, R or the Unscrambler.* To be familiar with FEM and CFD modelling and simulation methods (experience with Cosmol is desirable).* Image analysis experience is an advantage.
