Data Scientist - 6 Month Contract
Location: York or Manchester (Hybrid, up to 2 days/week in office)
Type: 6 Month Contract, £450/day (Inside IR35)
Reporting to: Head of Data Science
A leading financial services company seeks a skilled Data Scientist for a 6-month contract to join our innovative technology team. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver impactful data science solutions in a collaborative, fast-paced Agile environment, driving business value through advanced analytics.
About the RoleAs a Data Scientist, you'll work with a dynamic team of data scientists, engineers, and analysts to solve complex business challenges. You'll apply the data science life cycle to develop, deploy, and maintain production-grade models, collaborating with stakeholders on decision-making, pricing, and monitoring solutions.
Key ResponsibilitiesApply the data science life cycle (design, EDA, building, evaluation, deployment, monitoring) to deliver scalable MVPs.
Develop and optimize production-grade data science models using Python.
Design solutions for business challenges using diverse datasets and advanced ML/statistical techniques.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance analytics practices.
Write high-quality, maintainable Python code adhering to best practices.
Stay updated on new techniques and share insights with the team.
Must-Haves
Proven experience in data science or advanced analytics.
Strong Python programming skills and experience with Test-Driven Development (eg, pytest).
Familiarity with version control and IT delivery tools.
Ability to apply machine learning to solve business problems.
Experience building predictive/prescriptive models for actionable insights.
Excellent communication skills to present findings to diverse audiences.
Nice-to-Haves
Graduate/postgraduate degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or statistics.
Experience in financial services, insurance, or E-commerce.
Familiarity with cloud-based deployment, neural networks, TensorFlow, CatBoost, XGBoost, SKlearn, Pandas, SQL, API development, or CI/CD pipelines.
Background in software engineering or DevOps/MLOps.
