Our client are a top tier consultancy looking for x2 Java Developers with AI experience on a 6 months contract.

Key responsibilities:

Work with architects and data scientists to scope AI features, define API contracts, and select appropriate ML services (on-prem & cloud).

Java development
Build/refactor micro-services (Spring Boot) that consume AI models, expose RESTful endpoints, and process large datasets.

AI integration
Containerise and deploy trained models (TensorFlow, PyTorch or SageMaker endpoints) and implement inference pipelines.

DevOps & CI/CD
Contribute to IaC (Terraform), automated testing, and Git-based workflows; ensure secure, reproducible deployments.

Performance & security
Optimise JVM performance, enforce OWASP standards, and ensure compliance with SC-level security controls.

Agile collaboration
Participate in sprint ceremonies, peer reviews, and regular show-and-tells with stakeholders.

Essential skills & experience

• Active SC clearance (you must hold valid clearance at contract start).

• 5+ years' commercial Java 11+ development (Spring Boot/Spring Cloud).

• Hands-on AI/ML integration experience: deploying or calling models (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, SageMaker, Vertex AI, Azure ML).

• Building and consuming REST/JSON APIs and event-driven services (Kafka, SNS/SQS or similar).

• Containerisation with Docker and orchestration (Kubernetes/EKS/AKS/OpenShift).

• CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI or Azure DevOps).

• Unit, integration and performance testing (JUnit, Mockito, Gatling/JMeter).

• Strong knowledge of security best practices in government or regulated environments.

Desirable

• Experience with Python for data preprocessing or model evaluation.

• Familiarity with GDS Service Standard and service assessments.

• Exposure to NoSQL (MongoDB, DynamoDB) and graph databases.

• Knowledge of DevSecOps tooling (SonarQube, Snyk, Trivy).
