CONTEXT

One and a half year ago, Our customer started his journey from Waterfall to Agile and started to build his own Agile methodology, named Axel (for Accelerate), largely inspired by the SAFe principles.

Today, the Delivery team is organized in 5 Devops Release Trains mainly organized around technologies rather than on Value Streams, managed by Domain Managers'

However for 2 of our upcoming initiatives, being We Care and Atrias, decision has been made to build 2 respective dedicated scrum teams who will both have the responsibility to deliver good working solutions according to a pre-defined PI cadence. The scrum master will lead one of those teams, the other one being filled in by an internal position. ASSIGNMENT The scrum master will lead either the We care either the Atrias scrum team, the other one being filled in by an internal position. His/her mission will consist of helping the team meet its goals and coordinate activities with other teams by educating the team in Scrum, following-up on the team Kanban and ensuring Agile processes and best practices are being followed. The Scrum Master also helps remove impediments and foster an environment for high-performing team dynamics, continuous flow, and relentless improvement tASKS

Helps the team embrace Axel Core Values - Promotes SAFe quality practices, adopts and applies SAFe Principles selected to be part of Axel methodology, implement Axel practices.

Facilitates meetings and Agile Rituals - Facilitates all team meetings, including (where applicable) the Daily Stand-up, Iteration Planning, Iteration Review, and Iteration Retrospective. Supports the Product Owner

Supports the team rules - The rules of an Agile Team are lightweight, but they are rules nonetheless, and the Scrum Master is responsible for reinforcing them. These may include the rules of Scrum, Built-In Quality practices, Work in Process (WIP) limits from Kanban, and any other process rules the team has agreed.

Facilitates the team's progress towards team goals - The Scrum Master is trained as a team facilitator and is continuously engaged in challenging the old norms of development to improve performance in the areas of quality, predictability, flow, and velocity. He helps the team focus on daily and Iteration Goals in the context of current Program Increment (PI) Objectives.

Helps the team improve and take responsibility for their actions - facilitates the team retrospective.

Teaches problem-solving techniques and helps the team become better problem-solvers for themselves.

Helps the Product Owner in their efforts to manage the backlog and guide the team while facilitating a healthy team dynamic with respect to priorities and scope.

Eliminates impediments - Many blocking issues will be beyond the team's authority or may require support from other teams. The Scrum Master actively addresses these issues so that the team can remain focused on achieving the objectives of the Iteration.

Builds a high-performing team - Focuses on ever-improving team dynamics and performance. Helps the team manage interpersonal conflicts, challenges, and opportunities for growth. Escalates people problems to management where necessary, but only after internal team processes have failed to resolve the issue; helps individuals and teams through personnel changes.

Protects and communicates - Communicates with management and outside stakeholders; helps protect the team from uncontrolled expansion of work.

Helps coordinate inter-team cooperation and helps the team operate well on the train.

Competences

Knowledge & Experience:

Experience in Agile methodologies is required with a preference for SAFe methodology. A broad experience as Scrum Master is a must

Solid educational background, preferably in the fields of computer science or engineering.

Experience in Utilities is an asset.

(Strong) affinity with engineering of solutions at all levels (IT application and infrastructure architecture, functional E2E processes and Datamodelling) and a good general understanding of business contexts and complex IT architectures including different technologies and systems;

Other Skills:

Master of business English and are at least conversational in Dutch or French;
