L3 Network Security Engineer - 6 months - West London - Inside IR35

Hamilton Barnes is currently supporting one of the UK's leading airlines, who are undergoing a major transformation across their core network and infrastructure environment. As part of a critical technical operations team, we're looking for experienced an experienced L3 Network Security Engineer to deliver high-impact support in a fast-paced, customer-facing setting.

You'll play a key role in managing, maintaining, and enhancing a complex enterprise network across data centres, wireless infrastructure, security platforms, and global WAN connectivity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide hands-on support across all OSI layers, applying deep troubleshooting expertise to resolve network issues across switching, routing, wireless, and security domains
• Monitor network health using a range of NMS tools (SolarWinds, CA Spectrum, NetBrain, ThousandEyes, etc.), identifying and escalating issues proactively
• Triage and resolve incidents, working collaboratively with third-party vendors and internal teams within SLA frameworks
• Configure and troubleshoot enterprise routing protocols and technologies - including OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, VLANs, STP, VRF, DMVPN, FHRP
• Support Cisco WLAN infrastructure - including controllers, SSIDs, and access points
• Implement and troubleshoot Firewalls (Checkpoint), VPNs, and network security policies
• Administer F5 LTM appliances, including SSL certificate renewals, iRules, software patching and upgrades

What You'll Ideally Bring:

• Strong hands-on experience with Cisco and Juniper Routing & Switching, particularly within data centre networks
• Deep understanding of BGP, OSPF, Checkpoint Firewalls, Cisco Wireless, SD-WAN, and F5 LTM
• Proven ability to work across DNS, DHCP, and IPAM platforms
• Comfortable managing enterprise monitoring and alerting systems - SolarWinds, CA Spectrum, BIG-IQ, etc.
• Certifications such as CCNP, CCSA, F5 Certified are a nice to have
• Additional experience with Cisco Meraki, AWS Networking, or Cisco ISE is highly desirable
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage stakeholder expectations and vendor engagement
