Application Enterprise Architect - 6 Month Contract (Scope for extension)

Our client is seeking seasoned Application Enterprise Architect to define and lead the strategic roadmap for Branch and Teller Applications within a leading financial services institution.

This is a pivotal role focused on modernizing Legacy systems, driving technology integration during mergers and acquisitions, and ensuring architectural alignment with business goals and regulatory standards.

Key Details:

Location: Hybrid (2 days per week on site in Swindon)
Rate: Negotiable
Duration: 6 months (Scope for extension)

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement the application roadmap for Branch and Teller systems aligned with business and operational goals.
• Establish and maintain enterprise architecture principles, standards, and best practices.
• Lead modernization initiatives using cloud platforms, microservices, and other innovative technologies.
• Oversee technical due diligence, system consolidation, and risk mitigation during mergers and acquisitions.
• Collaborate with IT, business leaders, and third-party vendors to ensure business-technical alignment.
• Ensure architectural decisions comply with banking regulations and security standards.
• Monitor, assess, and improve application reliability and performance.
• Deliver bi-weekly updates to the COO on key initiatives, milestones, and challenges.

Ideal Experience & Skills:

• 15+ years in enterprise architecture roles within the banking or financial services sector.
• Deep expertise in Branch and Teller Applications and core banking systems.
• Proven experience with M&A-related application integration and change management.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman, etc.).
• Technical proficiency in cloud platforms, microservices, and application modernization.
• Solid understanding of banking regulations, digital transformation, and security standards.
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement, and C-level communication skills.
