Location: Remote (UK- based) with occasional travel to Bristol (minimum once a month)
Contract: Inside IR35
Client: Leading Financial Services Organisation
We are working in close partnership with a highly reputable financial services organisation that is embarking on a major cloud transformation journey. As part of this initiative, we are seeking an experienced Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to act as the Technical Lead on key infrastructure migration and modernisation projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys the balance of hands-on technical challenges and mentoring engineering teams, particularly within a security-focused, highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Technically lead a team of engineers migrating services from on-premise environments to AWS.

Provide strategic input on cloud architecture and infrastructure-as-code, ensuring secure, scalable solutions that meet the needs of a regulated financial environment.

Drive the design, development, and automation of infrastructure using Terraform and Puppet.
-
Oversee the configuration and deployment pipelines via GitLab and GitHub, promoting best practices for CI/CD.
-
Offer mentorship, guidance, and technical oversight to internal engineering teams, fostering knowledge-sharing and skill development.

Ensure robust, compliant operations across Linux/Unix systems in cloud and hybrid environments.
Essential Experience:

Significant hands-on expertise in AWS infrastructure and services, particularly in migrations from on-prem to cloud.

Deep knowledge of Terraform and Puppet for provisioning and configuration management.

Strong experience with GitLab and GitHub for code collaboration and CI/CD automation.

Background in Linux/Unix system administration in complex environments.
-
Prior experience leading or mentoring technical teams on large-scale transformation projects.

Excellent communication skills, especially in cross-functional and remote-first teams.
Additional Information:

This is a predominantly remote role, but the successful candidate must be willing to travel to the Bristol office once per month (travel expenses will not be covered).

Experience working within financial services or other regulated sectors would be highly beneficial, though not essential.
