About the Role

Our Portsmouth based client are seeking a Lead Business Analyst to join their growing team. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work 2-3 days a week on-site, with flexibility for remote working. As a Lead Business Analyst, you will play a key role in shaping, maturing, and elevating the Business Analysis (BA) function across the organisation, while remaining hands-on and directly involved in the delivery of strategic and complex technology projects.

    • Define and implement standards, tools, and frameworks to mature the BA practice.
    • Establish a shared understanding of best practices and consistent documentation/analysis approaches.
    • Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of business analysts.
    • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across the BA team.
    • Work directly with stakeholders across business and technology teams to gather, analyse, and document business and system requirements.
    • Facilitate workshops, interviews, and stakeholder meetings to define and prioritise needs.
    • Translate business problems into clear and concise requirements for solution design and delivery.
    • Support the delivery life cycle from inception through to implementation and post-launch review.
  • Project Delivery and Leadership:
    • Lead analysis work across multiple projects concurrently, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and objectives.
    • Act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders, ensuring clarity and quality of requirements and proposed solutions.

Required Experience:

  • Proven experience in a senior or lead business analysis role within a technology project environment.
  • Strong experience working on digital, data or transformation programmes.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • Experience working across the full project life cycle, including Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with a hands-on delivery mindset.
  • Comfortable managing priorities across multiple projects simultaneously.

Desirable:

  • Experience in mentoring or line management of other Business Analysts.
  • Knowledge of tools such as Jira, Confluence, and business process modelling tools.
  • Relevant certifications (eg, BCS, IIBA, Agile BA, or equivalent).

Benefits:

  • Flexible hybrid working - typically 2-3 days per week in our Portsmouth office.
  • A chance to shape and grow a BA function with leadership support.
  • A collaborative, inclusive, and forward-thinking team culture.
  • Opportunities for personal and professional development.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
