AVD DevOps Engineer (SC) - Inside IR35 - Remote - 6 months

Hamilton Barnes is seeking an experienced Security Cleared Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) DevOps Engineer for a 6-month contract opportunity. This role offers remote working with occasional onsite travel to a site in Gloucester, supporting the Virtual Devices Team in a secure, mission-critical environment.

You'll play a key role in running, operating, and developing a large-scale AVD environment supporting over 5,000 global users. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high-impact project in a security-cleared, Agile-driven organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate, maintain and enhance the Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environment, including single and multi-session hosts.
• Administer and support Windows environments within AVD, including Group Policy management and patching.
• Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, PowerShell, ARM templates, and Azure CLI.
• Configure and maintain user environments with FSLogix and manage app deployment across host pools.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines via GitHub repositories and contribute to ongoing automation efforts.
• Participate in knowledge sharing, documentation, and cross-skilling within the team of junior SMEs.
• Provide on-call support on a rotational basis across team.

What you will ideally:

• Have in-depth knowledge of AVD architecture, design and migration best practices as well as day-to-day environment management.
• Be highly proficient in configuring and managing host pools, session hosts, user access, application layers, and FSLogix profiles.
• Demonstrate strong technical skills in PowerShell Scripting, Group Policy management, and Windows OS administration.
• Possess hands-on experience with DevOps tools including Azure DevOps, GitHub Repos, Terraform, ARM templates, and Azure CLI.
• Be familiar with Agile methodologies, including active involvement in sprints and ceremonies.
• Show strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in stakeholder engagement and collaborative problem-solving.
• Active Security Clearance is a mandatory.

• Duration: 6 months (View for Extension)
• Daily Rate: Up to £425 Per Day (Inside IR35)
• Location: Remote (Occasional travel to Gloucester)
• Clearance Required: SC Clearance (active)
