Production Technician - Space

  • Chelmsford, Essex (On-site role)
  • £28,000 - £33,000 + excellent Benefits.

We generate world-leading technology critical for humankind, including vital components for radiotherapy machines and the imaging devices used in groundbreaking space missions.

Our Space business in Chelmsford provides high performance CCD, Infrared and CMOS sensors for space science, earth observation, astronomy, and high energy physics applications.

We are looking for experienced Engineers to join our highly successful manufacturing team, to develop high precision silicon assembly and provide onward support to manufacture.

Summary - Production Technician - Space

  • Development of new and existing Probe capabilities for the testing of CCD/CMOS Wafers
  • Work with Production Engineers to ensure DFM (design for manufacture) is optimised
  • Assist with development and writing procedures for the prototyping of new products
  • Continuous improvement of existing manufacturing processes and work instructions, working with the wider production/manufacturing team
  • Generation of SAP ME routings from the manufacturing flow diagrams
  • Generation of SAP BOM's and master data, working with design, engineering and procurement teams
  • Ensure all documentation is confirmed through Configuration Control Boards (CCBs)
  • Manage and optimize operations flow (information and production flow)
  • Assist with production trials and ensure all relevant documentation is completed
  • Work to existing NPI processes

Qualifications - Production Technician - Space

  • HNC in Engineering or Physics or equivalent experience
  • Experience of Production/Manufacturing
  • Experience of developing manufacturing processes
  • Experience of working in a project manufacturing environment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with documented results
  • The ability to work effectively in a team
  • Self-motivation
  • Attention to detail
