OpenMetadata Consultant/Expert, English Speaking

Working conditions: 2 days on site in Luxembourg, 3 days remote

Candidate must be a European national or have a work permit to work in Luxembourg

Skills:

The ideal consultant should bring the following expertise and experience:

• Demonstrated hands-on experience with OpenMetadata, including configuration, customization, and integration with enterprise systems.
• Strong data engineering background, with familiarity in modern data stack tools (eg, DBT, Airflow, Snowflake, Spark).
• Proven skills in data architecture, with the ability to design metadata models, data lineage flows, and catalogue structures to support both operational and analytical needs.
• Solid understanding of data governance practices, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.
• Ability to translate business needs into technical use cases, and to clearly present findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience in enterprise or regulated environments is a plus.
• Fluent in English

Mission Objectives:

We are seeking an experienced OpenMetadata Consultant to support the following tasks:

1. Capability Assessment:
• Conduct a comprehensive review of OpenMetadata's native functionalities, architecture, and extensibility.
• Evaluate its suitability for client's needs across analytical (eg, BI, reporting) and operational (eg, system integration, pipeline monitoring) data use cases.
• Advise on integration possibilities with our existing ecosystem, including Snowflake, DBT, Power BI, SAP systems, and others.
2. POC Use Case Definition & Implementation:
• Co-design with client stakeholders a small set of high-impact proof-of-concept use cases (eg, lineage tracking, data quality observability, metadata ingestion and enrichment).
• Implement and configure these use cases in OpenMetadata, leveraging real datasets and business scenarios.
• Demonstrate outcomes to stakeholders and assess usability, scalability, and operational fit.
3. Recommendations & Strategic Fit:
• Deliver a structured recommendation report assessing the platform's strengths, gaps, and alignment with client data strategy.
• Provide recommendations for further implementation, governance models, and resource planning for broader adoption.
