Network Architect opportunity

Hybrid - Plymouth

6 months duration fixed term contract

Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Network Architect to join their dynamic team in Cattedown, Plymouth, on a fixed-term contract for six months. As the Network Architect, you will report to the Head of Network Services and be at the forefront of shaping the strategic design and evolution of our client's enterprise network infrastructure. Your expertise will be vital in modernising Legacy systems and supporting digital transformation initiatives that enhance secure and resilient communications across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and maintain enterprise-wide network architectures with a focus on scalability, security, performance, and resilience.

Lead the design of innovative network solutions across data centres, cloud, and edge environments, including SD-WAN, VPN, and LAN/WAN infrastructures.

Develop network architecture strategies that align with organisational goals, ensuring cost efficiency and adaptability for future technological advancements.

Champion secure network principles, supporting Zero Trust models, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Collaborate with cybersecurity, cloud, infrastructure, and application teams to enable seamless integration across platforms.

Oversee network performance monitoring and capacity planning to optimise network resources effectively.

Mentor team members and foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

Section 4 - Knowledge, Experience, and Technical Know-How

Deep understanding of enterprise networking technologies, including routing, switching, Firewalls, load balancing, and wireless networks.

Proven experience with hybrid and multi-cloud networking (eg, Azure Virtual WAN, AWS Transit Gateway, GCP networking).

Knowledge of SD-WAN solutions, VPN technologies, and secure access services (eg, ZTNA, SASE).

Proficiency with network monitoring and diagnostic tools (eg, SolarWinds, Wireshark, NetFlow, SNMP).

Strong experience in network automation, Scripting, and Infrastructure as Code tools (eg, Ansible, Terraform, Python).

Awareness of cybersecurity principles and secure network architecture best practices (eg, NIST, ISO27001, IEC 62443).

Familiarity with ITIL service management processes and Agile/DevOps ways of working.

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences.

What You Bring:

A bachelor's degree in computer science, Networking, Engineering, or a related field.

Professional certifications such as CCNP/CCIE or Azure/AWS Network Specialist.

Proven experience with enterprise networking technologies, hybrid and multi-cloud networking, and SD-WAN solutions.

Proficiency in network automation, Scripting, and Infrastructure as Code tools like Ansible, Terraform, and Python.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
