Permanent Cloud Engineer - Azure, VMware, Networking, Windows - London

My client an insurance organisation, in London has a requirement for a Cloud engineer to join the team. The role is hybrid working with 1-2 days per week in the office in London.

You must have strong Azure cloud, networking/Infrastructure experience to apply, as well as VMware, Windows and the following:

Role/Requirements

• Responsible for efficient day to day operations of cloud usage (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, FaaS)
• Contribute to Cloud service solutions and pattern proposals across all cloud platforms
• Identify cost reduction in operations and delivery and integrated IT security controls are implemented
• Support application development and tooling, across the overarching roadmap for IT Services, M365 and cloud platforms (SaaS, PaaS etc.)
• Use Agile methodologies across entire SDLC, including Infrastructure as Code
• Assist in building and designing and launching a greenfield cloud-hosted infrastructure/database platform
• Maintaining a hybrid on-prem infrastructure and cloud platform
• Automating resource provisioning including compute and storage resources, logging, and monitoring
• Automating resource management such as scaling data ingress and egress, load-balancing, security updates and backups
• Build tools which reduce occurrences of errors and improve user experience

Essential criteria needed

• 5+ years working experience of IT systems environments-operating systems, networking, applications, platforms, and databases
• 3+ years hands-on working experience with cloud technologies including the architectural design and deployment of cloud solutions (eg, AWS Well-Architected or equivalent)
• Hold certification for cloud solution architecture with one of the leading CSPs
• Working knowledge of cloud management platforms
• Familiarity with service design and pricing in the context of cloud-based solutioning
• Expert software development skills in either Python or Node.js/TypeScript
• Proficient with Kubernetes
• Proficient in cloud infrastructure provisioning tools eg Terraform, powershell, open tofu
• Experience with and an understanding of automated testing, logging and monitoring
• Experience with virtualization (VMWare, Xen, KVM, AVD)
• Experience with configuration management systems (Puppet, Chef, CFEngine, etc.)
• Experience with load balancing/proxies, network architecture and security
• Experience of building Public Cloud Services and Container Runtime Platforms
• Experience using Git and build pipelines (CI/CD)
• Knowledge of and experience in working with test-driven development processes, release management, Agile methodologies, using languages such as Unix, Linux, Apache, Java, .net, powershell, bash
• Experience with Microservices implementations and workload migrations
• Experience with using IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and FaaS
• Experience with managing cloud environments
• Familiarity with common database technologies (MySQL, PostGreSQL, Oracle)
