Legacy Technologies Network Architect - Perm - SC Clearable

  • Location: Birmingham
  • Pattern: Predominantly on-site, some scope to work from home
  • Salary: £65,000 - £70,000 + Car Allowance + 10% Bonus + Medical
  • Clearance: Must be able to attain SC Clearance or have one already
  • Contingency: Start Date once SC Clearance attained

This is an opportunity to join of the organisations at the forefront of the UK Defence Sector, as they look to expand their Network Architecture capability, joining an existing team working on a variety of complex solutions.

They're looking to bring in a Legacy network technical specialist, to join an overall capability team that work on blended solutions. The role will suit someone that enjoys thinking outside the box and using Legacy technology to create new and interesting solutions.

Technical Experience

  • Familiarity with Legacy circuit-switched networks and point-to-point connectivity
  • Experience and skills in designing and implementing TDM networks, including TDM multiplexers, demultiplexers, and synchronization techniques
  • Experience and skills in configuring and managing Routers, Switches, and other network devices for both point-to-point and packet-switched networks.
  • Knowledge and experience of SDH, WDM, ATM and Frame-Relay, circuit to packet emulation (CTP) including limitations and constraints, particularly in respect of timing, and layer 2 connectivity solutions.
  • Implementing QoS to manage bandwidth and ensure reliable data transmission, especially for Real Time applications such as VoIP.
  • Implementing relevant security measures such as encryption, authentication, and secure routing protocols
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve issues in both point-to-point and packet-switched networks
  • Familiarity with older networking equipment and software used in point-to-point networks
  • Demonstrable design experience including production of quality technical documentation for delivery and solution support.
  • Solid understanding of project end to end life cycle.
  • Excellent communication skills with multiple stakeholders, good team player, and good experience of the defence sector.
