Azure Virtual Desktop Tech Lead/SME

Whitehall Resources are currently looking for a Azure Virtual Desktop Tech Lead/SME based in London on a Hybrid basis for an initial 6 month contract.

We are seeking an experienced and driven Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Technical Lead/SME to architect, implement, and lead the end-to-end delivery of AVD solutions. Providing deep technical expertise in designing, deploying, and supporting secure and scalable virtual desktop solutions.

Main Responsibilities:

• Architecture & Design, Implementation & Operations, Automation & Optimization, Security & Compliance, Leadership & Collaboration, Monitoring & Troubleshooting
• Design and implement AVD solutions, Configure and optimize FSLogix for user profile management, Develop and implement automation for scaling, image updates, Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to AVD, Provide technical documentation, knowledge transfer, and training to support teams.

Key Skills:

• 6+ years of experience in IT infrastructure with 3+ years focused on Azure Virtual Desktop.
• Deep knowledge of Azure IaaS, networking, identity (Entra ID/Azure AD), and storage.
• Proficiency in Scripting/automation (PowerShell, ARM/Bicep, Terraform, etc.).
• Experience with FSLogix, Intune.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Azure Virtual Desktop
• Strong knowledge of Azure infrastructure: networking, virtual machines, storage, identity (Entra ID/Azure AD), and RBAC.
• Expertise with FSLogix profile containers and image management.
• Proficiency in Scripting and automation.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a deep understanding of session host performance tuning and diagnostics.
• Strong understanding of user profile management, image management, and application delivery.
