Data Migration Specialist

Start: ASAP
Duration: 6 months +
Pay: negotiable, inside IR35
Location: 3 days in the office per week in Coventry

We're looking for a highly skilled Data Migration Lead to manage the end-to-end migration of large-scale datasets (1000TB+) from Legacy platforms into a modern Azure-based cloud environment using Databricks and Microsoft Fabric. This is a pivotal role in delivering enterprise-wide transformation, supporting Real Time analytics, AI/ML, and telemetry data integration. Experience in utilities, SCADA, or IoT environments is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement full data migration strategies, including ETL pipelines, validation, and quality frameworks.
- Migrate data from Legacy systems (SCADA, SAP PM, Oracle ODS) into Azure Databricks for Real Time and IoT use cases.
- Collaborate with cloud, data, and governance teams to deliver secure, scalable, and compliant solutions.
- Translate complex business needs into technical plans and deliver migration outcomes aligned to strategic goals.
- Lead training, onboarding, and workshops for internal teams across new platforms and MDM tools.
- Ensure GDPR and regulatory compliance throughout migration activities.
- Monitor and resolve data quality issues to ensure reliability, accuracy, and completeness.
- Guide multidisciplinary teams, remove delivery roadblocks, and ensure project success.
- Manage risk mitigation, rollback procedures, and contingency planning.
- Apply domain knowledge of utilities, SCADA, and telemetry systems to future-proof data designs.

- Full data migration life cycle: planning, execution, validation, rollback, and risk mitigation
- Azure ecosystem: Data Factory, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric
- Storage platforms: ADLS, Azure Blob, Delta Lake, Azure SQL DB, Cosmos DB, Oracle DB
- Data Mapping, ETL Mapping, and handling of unstructured data
- Data governance: Microsoft Purview, Unity Catalog
- MDM: Profisee, Informatica

Desirable
- MDM: Informatica
- Governance tools: Collibra
- Programming: Python, Kusto
- Experience with utilities, SCADA, telemetry, SAP PM, GIS
- Streaming platforms: Event Hub, Kafka, IoT Hub, ADX
