AI Chatbot Developer (Azure/WhatsApp)

Remote contract | Outside IR35 | £400 per day | Initial 6-month term with planned extension to 12 months

Own the end-to-end build of a production-grade WhatsApp chatbot for a leading healthcare provider, running entirely on Azure and powered by large-language models.

Key responsibilities

. Architect, code and deploy the chatbot using Azure Bot Service plus WhatsApp Business API (via Twilio or direct Meta integration).
. Implement RAG pipelines with LangChain/LlamaIndex to surface trusted clinical answers.
. Expose robust REST/GraphQL endpoints (FastAPI or Node) and automate CI/CD through Azure DevOps, Docker and AKS.
. Embed observability - logging, distributed tracing, alerting - to meet SLA/uptime targets.
. Collaborate with the AI Trainer on data collection hooks, feature flags and safe-deployment procedures.
. Document the solution clearly for hand-over to in-house tech teams.

Essential skills

• Strong Python (or TypeScript/Node) plus FastAPI/Express.
• Deep knowledge of Azure services: Bot Framework, Functions, App Service, AKS, Key Vault.
• Experience integrating messaging platforms (WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS).
• Containerisation & infrastructure-as-code (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform/ARM/Bicep).
• MLOps practices: MLflow, model versioning, feature stores, automated testing.

Desirable

• Previous builds in regulated sectors (healthcare, finance).
• Familiarity with HL7/FHIR APIs or other health-data interfaces.
