We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Data Platform Consultant to join a key data programme on an initial 6-month contract. This is a hybrid role, requiring candidates to be UK-based, with occasional onsite presence.

This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on data professional with a proven track record in building Azure-centric data platforms, and deep expertise in Azure Databricks, Spark, Python, and related technologies. Experience within the commodities or financial services sectors is highly desirable.

Key Requirements:

• Experience in data engineering, data architecture, or platform development.
• Proven background in building and designing large-scale data platforms, preferably on Microsoft Azure.
• Strong experience with:

Azure Databricks (including Unity Catalog and Delta Lake)
Apache Spark
Python

• Experience in big data architecture design and implementation.
• Solid understanding of cloud-native data services, especially within the Azure ecosystem.
• Team leadership experience - must be capable of guiding a technical team, resolving challenges, and mentoring junior members.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience with Azure DevOps is a strong plus.
• Background in commodities or financial services domains is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and build of a scalable, secure Azure-based data platform.
• Act as a technical authority across the data team, providing strategic input and hands-on support.
• Drive best practices in data engineering, development, and DevOps within the team.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
• Champion data quality, governance, and performance standards across the platform.
