DBT Core/BI Developer
Our client is looking for an experienced DBT Core Developer to join their data team. You will play a key role in designing, building, and deploying scalable data pipelines, with a strong emphasis on SQL-based data modelling, data transformation, and integrating with Power BI and Azure Databricks environments. This is a hands-on technical role suited for someone passionate about analytics engineering and robust data solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain DBT Core models using modular SQL for data transformation and curation.
- Design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines on Azure Databricks and integrate with Power BI.
- Manage data pipeline deployment processes, version control (Git), and CI/CD integrations.
- Optimize data models for performance and reusability following data warehouse best practices.
- Collaborate with analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements.
- Monitor and troubleshoot pipeline issues, ensuring high data quality and reliability.
- Maintain documentation for DBT models, pipeline processes, and data sources.
- Contribute to data governance and quality standards.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 3 years of experience in SQL development and data modelling.
- 2 years of hands-on experience with DBT Core (not DBT Cloud).
- Strong experience with Azure Databricks (Delta Lake, Spark SQL).
- Proven experience building and deploying data pipelines on cloud-based platforms.
- Solid understanding of data warehouse concepts and dimensional modelling.
- Experience integrating DBT models with Power BI datasets or semantic models.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (eg, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
- Comfortable working in a command-line and Git-based environment.
- Python Scripting skills for orchestration or transformation.
- Experience with orchestration tools (eg, Azure Data Factory, Airflow, Prefect).
- Knowledge of dbt testing frameworks and custom macros.
- Familiarity with Power BI DAX and dataflows.
- Experience working in agile data teams or DevOps environments.
