Embedded Software Engineer - 12 month Contract - Peterborough - OnSite

This position sits within the Engine Applications Software Team, responsible for the development, deployment, and support of Embedded software for power systems engineered by the Client. As an Engine Embedded Software Integration Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering an expanding portfolio of projects focused on electronically controlled engines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the design, development, and maintenance of complex Real Time Embedded engine application software.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and electronics systems engineers to capture requirements and implement tailored software solutions.
  • Design and develop Embedded software features using Matlab/Simulink and Stateflow modelling environments.
  • Create and execute test cases for Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems to ensure robust feature validation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve control system or electronic issues encountered during the build, integration, and test phases.
  • Carry out software integration, configuration, and compilation across subsystem software components.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • A strong technical background with a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, Control Systems, or Automotive Engineering. Candidates with equivalent experience and a different academic background will also be considered.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Embedded software development for high-volume products.
  • Expertise in Matlab/Simulink and Stateflow, particularly for complex Embedded control systems.
  • Solid understanding of Real Time control system development practices, including use of version control tools like Git.

Preferred Experience (Desirable but Not Essential)

  • Prior experience in Embedded control software development in sectors such as automotive, construction equipment, or powertrain systems.
  • Experience with calibration data management tools such as System Architect or Forcast, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with data communication protocols (eg, CAN, Ethernet) and diagnostic/calibration tools like CANape, CANalyzer, or CANoe.
  • Experience using dSPACE systems for testing and validation.
  • Working knowledge of Agile software development methodologies.
  • A proactive problem solver who is comfortable diagnosing technical challenges and implementing effective solutions.

Additional Information

    • PAYE Rate: £26.50 per hour
      Umbrella Company Rate: £34.14 per hour
    • Location: Peterborough (5 days on-site)
    • Contract Duration: 12 months (with strong potential for extension)
  • 2 stage interview
