Senior Security Engineer - London - Hybrid working - £75K + Benefits

As a Senior Security Engineer you'll be supporting the delivery of information security operations, covering but not limited to company policies, data loss prevention, access protection, incident response and investigation, vulnerability mitigation, systems monitoring and related projects. This will help us excel at maintaining secure, reliable and compliant systems as well as the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information across the business to stay ahead of the game.

Our Information Security team is on a mission: protect and serve. We use the latest technologies to detect and remove any threats to our data, while serving the best interests of the business. It's not just in problem-solving where we challenge our team. We also encourage each person to better themselves, keeping up to date with developments in the threat and technology sphere.

As part of your role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Determine appropriate levels of security controls, systems monitoring and security audits.
  • Develop and supervise all IT security measures in place within the company.
  • Help manage the development and implementation of security policy, standards, guidelines and procedures to ensure ongoing improvement and maintenance of security posture.
  • Designing, implementing, and monitoring security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks, and information.
  • Maintaining existing security systems, controls, and documentation.
  • Working with outside consultants as appropriate for independent security reviews and compliance audits.
  • Act as a point of escalation of security issues.
  • Assisting various teams with prioritizing patches and security fixes.
  • Respond to various requests logged by the business.
  • Leading investigations into suspected attacks and data breaches.
  • Providing comprehensive reports including assessment-based findings, outcomes, and propositions for further system security enhancement.
  • Developing technical solutions and new security tools/techniques to assist in mitigating security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks.
  • Assisting the Information Security Team with awareness training on information security standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Completing third party and application assessments.
  • Review security logs and analytics.

Skills you'll bring to the table

The necessary skills that we require for this role include:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively
  • Experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams, with a focus on achieving shared goals
  • Expertise in managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a track record of delivering on time and within scope
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring high standards of quality in all outputs
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and priorities, maintaining effectiveness in dynamic situations
  • Detailed technical knowledge of vulnerabilities, threats, attack methods, and infection vectors.
  • In-depth technical experience working with a multitude of security products and hardware (eg Spector, Palo Alto, CISCO etc).
  • Extensive knowledge and experience within security architecture, engineer and operations.
  • A solid foundation in computer networking fundamentals & security control, Firewalls, routing and the various threats applicable to the various OSI Networking layers.
  • Demonstrable understanding of DLP/IDS/IPS technologies, ability to construct custom signatures and investigate intercepted traffic/logs.
  • Demonstrable understanding of application security (web based) and how to protect business services through multiple protection mechanisms (controls).
  • Working experience in designing secure networks, systems, and application architectures
  • Working experience in building and maintaining on-premise and cloud (hybrid) security systems.
  • Working experience with Microsoft Threat Protection and Azure Security technology stack.
