Lead Business Analyst (Defence IT Infrastructure)
Location: Bristol (Hybrid - 2 to 3 days remote)
Salary: £50,000 - £65,000 + excellent benefits
Clearance: Must hold SC Clearance & be eligible for DV clearance
We're working with a forward-thinking Manufacturing client in Bristol who are seeking a Lead Business Analyst to support a high-impact MoD project. This is a hybrid role, offering flexibility, great leave allowance, and a strong focus on work-life balance.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead business analysis activity across complex programmes and portfolios, including IT infrastructure delivery
- Take responsibility for prioritising Business Analysis activities in coordination with the Principal Architect and Programme Portfolio Manager
- Develop and elaborate robust Business Cases and detailed requirements documentation for key programmes and projects
- Ensure benefits are clearly identified, tracked, and monitored throughout the project life cycle
- Advocate for Business Analysis best practices and influence their adoption across the wider organisation
- Support the resolution of complex issues through collaborative stakeholder engagement
- Ensure alignment of project solutions with strategic business and technology objectives
- Guide business and process owners to align operations and IT strategies effectively
- Use business analysis tools and techniques to analyse and improve systems and processes
- Evaluate manufacturing systems to better understand operational requirements and technology dependencies
Line Management Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of Business Analysts across multiple project portfolios
- Conduct 1:1s, performance reviews and personal development planning
- Organise training and mentorship to support team growth and capability
- Lead and support BAs in stakeholder engagement, delivery planning, and quality assurance of outputs
- Oversee recruitment and onboarding of new Business Analysts where needed
- Identify opportunities to improve Business Analysis policies, frameworks, and ways of working
What We're Looking For:
- Strong experience as a Business Analyst in complex environments
- Experience leading BA's across multiple projects or portfolios
- Background in IT Infrastructure, ideally within Defence, Engineering, or Manufacturing
- Comfortable working in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills
- Experience guiding business change and supporting strategic initiatives
- BA qualifications (eg, BCS Practitioner, Six Sigma) desirable
- Active SC clearance, and eligible and willing to undergo clearance
