Bridgeway Academy is seeking a Full time Accountant who will provide financial information to management by performing data entry, research and analysis of accounting information that consists of preparation of reports ensuring accounting principles are used to record the organizations financial information that also includes receivables and payables.
Essential Duties for this role include:
Accounts Receivable (A/R):
Will document financial transactions by entering account information and preparing weekly and monthly invoices for distribution. Will perform follow-up on past due receivables. Accounts Payable (A/P): Will verify payment of invoices associated with A/P and ensure payments are charged to the appropriate accounts and entered into the payable ledger. Will prepare checks for printing.
He/she will provide general supervision to Business Office clerical staff.
He/she will understand the use of Profit and Loss Statement, Balance Sheet and other financial documents in order to prepare reports as requested. He/she will provide financial information to management by performing research and analysing account data and reconciling financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information as needed.
He/she will assist the Director of Business Operations during the organization's annual fiscal audit by providing outside auditors with assistance in gathering necessary account information and documents for review. He/she will comply with federal, state and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions when required and maintaining financial security by following internal controls. He/she will maintain client confidence and protect operations by keeping financial information confidential while keeping HIPPA compliance. He/she will understand billing rules of third party payers and will develop and maintain relationships with payers.
He/she will have daily interactions, including written and oral contact with senior leadership, Board of Directors, direct reports, staff, parents, volunteers, community partners, vendors and others for the purpose of exchanging information and ideas aimed at providing assistance in fundraising.
A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or other related discipline required and 1-2 years of demonstrated successful experience working as an Accountant or in an equivalent level position. He/she will have an understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles to include having effective communication and exceptional verbal, nonverbal, written and listening skills.
He/she will be self-directed, meeting or exceeding established deadlines by providing a professional work product. He/she will be able to promote a positive work environment, acting as a role model to staff, exhibiting professionalism and enthusiasm with the ability to remain calm and collected during high volume work periods and can provide assistance during crisis situations. He/she will have excellent interpersonal skills and can work well with all types of people and diverse populations. Must be punctual, with strong time management, organizational and attention to detail skills. Will have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with volunteers, staff, board members, volunteers, community groups and other related agencies. He/she has the ability to maintain HIPPA compliance and confidential client information and can uphold the vision, mission and values of Bridgeway Academy. He/she will have a demonstrated capacity to use Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite and accounting software.
This position requires a valid state driver's license and insurable driving record, and a requires
successful completion of an ODJFS, BCI and FBI background screening.
