Working on a Fintech deployment Programme for a global IT Systems Integrator.
Scope
The Monitoring and Alerting SME will play a key role in ensuring full observability across the clients IaaS environment. The contract includes validating coverage of infrastructure and applications, tuning alerting thresholds, supporting health and performance reporting, and embedding monitoring into operational and governance processes. The contract involves direct use of SolarWinds, Coralogix, and DataDog, covering both infrastructure and application monitoring domains.
Key Deliverables:
- Confirm that all infrastructure and network assets (CIs) are appropriately monitored, with thresholds and page-out priorities clearly defined and regularly reviewed.
- Ensure comprehensive monitoring is in place across both infrastructure and application layers, using tools including SolarWinds, Coralogix, and DataDog.
- Validate that alerting is correctly configured to support early detection and response to service-impacting events, with appropriate escalation paths in place.
- Confirm access to monitoring tools is granted to relevant teams and maintained through structured access control processes.
- Establish and manage a regular tuning and testing process for alert configurations to reduce noise, improve accuracy, and maintain coverage quality.
- Ensure monitoring and alerting processes are fully Embedded into the Service Transition life cycle, enabling new or modified services to be onboarded with appropriate observability in place.
- Provide environment health reporting derived from monitoring data, supporting governance, KPI tracking, and ongoing service performance reviews.
- Support incident and problem management activities by using monitoring insights to reduce incident recurrence, assist with root cause identification, and contribute to improvement actions.
- Contribute to the automation of service reporting where feasible, ensuring monitoring data feeds into metrics such as uptime, capacity, performance, and MTTR.
- Participate in weekly operational governance forums, sharing updates on monitoring status, service health, and progress against agreed service improvement objectives.
