Principal Engineer - Central Data (ERP Focus)

Location: Stevenage or Bolton
Salary: Circa £47,000 + Bonus + Exceptional Benefits
Hybrid working: 3-4 days/week on-site

Are you passionate about process improvement, data integrity, and ERP systems? A leading engineering organisation is looking for a Principal Engineer to join their Central Data team - helping define tools, processes, and audit strategies to improve master data quality and planning output.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-oriented, collaborative individual with ERP experience who enjoys optimising systems, ensuring data accuracy, and supporting engineering and manufacturing teams with Real Time problem solving.

Why apply?

  • Annual bonus up to £2,500
  • 14% total pension contribution (employer + employee)
  • Paid overtime & flexible leave (up to 15 extra days)
  • Enhanced parental leave policies
  • Excellent on-site facilities including subsidised meals and free parking
  • Direct influence on ERP tooling, master data and operational excellence

What you'll be doing:

  • Act as first-line support for daily SAP/ERP-related issues
  • Define and execute audit strategies for master data (materials, BOMs, routings)
  • Use SAP to extract, analyse and interpret data; present cause-and-effect insights
  • Work with engineering and planning teams to improve MRP output and data integrity
  • Align engineering processes with best practices to enhance ERP system output
  • Support the Operational Excellence workstream focused on master data
  • Create and maintain routing times for accurate SAP capacity planning
  • Develop functional specs and user guides; support testing, training, and releases
  • Collaborate with third-party support partners to optimise SAP functionality
  • Generate and distribute KPI reports and performance dashboards

What we're looking for:

  • HNC or equivalent qualification
  • ERP system experience essential (SAP highly desirable)
  • Analytical mindset with a track record of implementing process improvements
  • Experience in planning, manufacturing or data governance preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and stakeholder communication skills
  • APICS supply chain certification is a plus, not a must

If you're a data-driven problem solver with a passion for improving systems and supporting business-critical operations, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today and help shape the data landscape of a forward-thinking engineering leader.
