We have an exciting opportunity available with a well-established local authority! They are currently seeking an experienced SEND Manager to provide strategic direction and performance management within their SEND services.
Job Responsibilities/Objectives
We have an exciting opportunity for a SEND Manager to join a well-established local authority, focusing on strategic direction and performance management within their SEND department.
Leading the SEND department and ensuring alignment with the Council's strategic objectives and statutory requirements.
Refining and developing the Self-Evaluation Framework (SEF) to support continuous service improvement.
Managing and supporting a team to deliver high-quality SEND services, including overseeing casework and resolving complex issues.
Working closely with senior leadership and external partners to ensure effective outcomes for children, youth/adolescent, and families.
Providing confident, evidence-based leadership to ensure compliance with SEND legislation and best practices.
Required Skills/Experience
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Extensive experience in SEND management, including working with EHCPs and complex casework.
Strong understanding of SEND legislation, statutory processes, and best practices in local authority settings.
Proven leadership skills, with the ability to manage teams and drive strategic service improvements.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with families, professionals, and external partners.
Desirable Skills/Experience
Although not essential, the following skills are desired by the client:
Experience using case management systems such as Capita One, Liquid Logic, or similar platforms.
Knowledge of data analysis tools and experience in reporting for senior management or Ofsted inspections.
Experience in managing tribunals, mediation, or dispute resolution in SEND services.
Ability to contribute to or lead strategic planning and service development initiatives.
