The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Space Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team on a contract basis. working out of Oxfordshire Space hub.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge space projects, working on the full life cycle of space systems from concept development through to in-orbit operations. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful design, development, integration, and testing of complex space systems.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the definition and analysis of system requirements for spacecraft, payloads, ground segments, or related space technologies.
- Develop system architectures, interface definitions, and performance budgets.
- Participate in trade-off studies and technical risk assessments.
- Support the integration and testing of space systems and subsystems.
- Develop and maintain system-level documentation, including specifications, test plans, and reports.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including hardware, software, and operations engineers.
- Contribute to the resolution of technical issues and anomalies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations. ECSS/UKSA
- Potentially contribute to mission planning and analysis activities.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience as a Systems Engineer within the space industry - for in-orbit products/satellites
- Strong understanding of space system engineering principles and methodologies.
- Experience with requirements management tools and processes.
- Familiarity with spacecraft subsystems (eg, AOCS, propulsion, power, TTC, thermal), payloads, or ground segment architecture.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools (eg, MATLAB, STK, Enterprise Architect, DOORS).
- Must have the right to work in the UK.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Experience with specific space missions or programmes.
- Knowledge of ECSS (European Cooperation for Space Standardization) standards.
- Experience with verification and validation activities.
- Familiarity with different life cycle phases of space projects.
- Experience in a specific domain within space systems engineering (eg, avionics, mission analysis, ground systems).
- Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
